The campaign will be held in the massive city of Temma, once the imperial capitol of the White Dragon Empire, today an independent city-state, a world center for commerce and information, a hive of scum and villainy, but also where the most beautiful and best things in the world are made.
Temma is divided into many quarters, neighborhoods and boroughs. Some of its inhabitants never leave the few square miles around their home; for some, Temma is a world unto itself.
Temma is ruled by a City Council, and has a Lord Mayor, City Guard, and other such things. While it borders other nations and states on various sides, none have any particular desire or ability to conquer or control it. However, being the rich and diverse “axis of the world”, it draws many different people to it.
Temma’s currency is the Gold Dragon, a relic from the days of the empire. A Gold Dragon is worth today 10,000 brass pennies (it used to be 100; then a 1,000; inflation is a bitch) and is rarely minted. You will mostly find it in official account books and the like. The general population uses pennies, and paper notes printed by various trade houses and loan banks; those are worth 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 or 1,000 pennies. All those places employ Wizards that create and maintain printing machines that make forgeries very difficult (but not impossible).
